LookBook: Little Daisies

Hey Loves,

This past week, and the week before have been so busy with finals. Yes those dreaded test you take at the end of the semester, that shouldn't be a marker of how much you have learned. Yeah, those. Any how, this means that it is finally summer as I have my last final today! Hooray me!

I wanted to celebrate the feeling of summer with a summer outfit, although it is a bit cold today. I found this crop top, at TJ Maxx for only $12.99. Heck if i'm getting less fabric I want to pay less. You feel me?  What I thought was cute and different about this crop top was the little daisies on the back.
I guess I have a thing about cute backs on shirts, or any clothing item for that matter. I just paired them with some almost color matching blue jeans, and braided my hair for an easy summer look.

Daisies are really in for summer this year, what do you think about them?

LookBook: Aztec Vest

Hey Loves,

Happy May Day! I can't believe it's already May. I suppose Minnesota weather can't either. It's actually been raining here the last couple of days. I'm not prepared for this weather. I don't even have an umbrella. But if a snow storm hit I would be ready to go!
This week's look is centered around a new sweater vest that I got at TJ Maxx for $12.99. What I love about this vest is that it has an Aztec print, and I love the colors and how summery it looks.

Also with this outfit I added a new purse that I have been loving recently. I got this blue purse from Old Navy for $22.99 on clearance. It doesn't seem like a huge bargain but what I love is that there are designer versions of this purse for $60-$100. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the purse so I didn't want to go out and buy a expensive designer one. ( One thing about me is that I love designer purses). But because I loved the purse so much I actually bought it in a taupe color as well.

I paired this vest over a denim shirt for warmth but I also enjoyed the contrast of the fabrics textures.
What would you pair this vest with? Let me know!

LookBook: City Girl Flannel

Hey loves,

Sorry about the lateness of this post, these next couple of weeks may be a little crazy for me school and pageant wise. But no worries I will never completely forget about you guys! On an honest note, I love writing and shooting blog posts. They help me hone my photography and editing skills while getting to talk and share something I enjoy, fashion and shopping.
This week because the weather is consistently changing I got my inspiration from what I am wearing for this specific weather. Today when I shot this look it was a short break from a thunderstorm. I felt it was the perfect time to pull out my trench coat that you all have seen before.

Underneath the trench coat I decided to wear a warm plaid flannel shirt. The great thing about this shirt is that I got it from plato's closet, and it only cost me $10. ( Score!) The shirt is originally from American Eagle. I decided to buy this shirt to wear it over cuter clothes I had during a drawing class I was taking. If you have taken a drawing class you know that you have to draw with charcoal, which I really enjoyed. So I often refer to this shirt as my drawing shirt.
Of course again I have paired this shirt with my denim leggings in a light wash from target. To make this outfit a little less "messy artist," I added a pair of Sperry brand navy sequin wedges. Sperry brand products are usually super expensive however I found these on clearance at Famous Footwear and I got them for $30. And because I am obsessed with statement necklaces and charming Charlie's I added a blue necklace to make this shirt more girly.

I always see girls wearing flannel button downs, and I never thought that I could wear one. However I like how I have styled this outfit, not to dressy, but casual enough to wear in any situation.

Would you wear a flannel button down? or a Button down in general? How would you style it?
I'm really curious! Let me know! :)

LookBook: Spring Maxi

Hey Loves,
This past week I was scrolling through pinterest looking at women's fashion, as it's one of the only things I look for while scrolling. Eitherway I saw a post about 50 spring fashion look ideas. Naturally I started scrolling, and came across a look that incorporated a maxi dress. The article suggested taking a leather jacket and pairing it with a maxi dress to make it appropriate for spring. I took this idea and made it my own here on Min Wage.
I own quiet a few maxi dresses, I love them because I don't have to worry about anything making an appearance that I would rather it didn't. If you know what I mean. Plus unlike skirts, maxi dresses or dresses in general really don't require much thought. No trying to make a shirt and skirt match business.
However following the advice of the pinterest post ( you can read it Here ), I paired this white lace maxi from Maurices with my leather moto inspired jacket from Express. And before you freakout about Express prices, I actually bought this jacket while the seasons were changing so it was on sale and cost me $80. A little pricey for us here, but it was originally $150 so i'm calling it a deal.
The dress however only cost me $45, which i've had this dress for two years, so the cost per wear price has gone down!
( Orginal price: $45, Worn: 10 times, 45 divided by 10 = $4.50 is now what the dress cost!)
Math is so much more fun, when applied to shopping.

And of course I paired my black knee high boots with the dress, to match my jacket and make the outfit ready for cold Minnesota springs. ( currently snowing).

What do you guys think? Would you rock a Maxi dress in spring?
Let me know in the comments.

LookBook: Pretty Pink Florals

Hey loves,
This week, we're pretty in pink. Finally it's consistently above 40 degrees in Minnesota. Naturally it's time to pull out some florals to embrace the warm weather. I think in fashion we are afraid to pair prints with prints as we don't want the outfit to look busy. However I feel that these floral prints work well together. The color of the flowers in both the skirt and the tank top match, allowing the two prints to blend nicely. To give the outfit a more pulled together look I added the lace blazer, the blazer adds to the overall feminine look but does not distract from the floral prints. For shoes, I paired my crochet lace Toms, which complimented the blazer nicely. For accessories I added a multi-strand pearl bracelet with pink rose broach, and a pink floral headband.

What do you think? Do you like mixing prints/patterns together?
Would you rock this look?
Let me know!

Lookbook: Creme of the CROP.

Hey loves,

We're at the creme of the CROP here are Min Wage, and that's the way we like it. As spring seems to be getting closer, and yet further away here in Minnesota, I thought I would play around with the latest spring and summer trend of crop tops. I have to admit that although I love the way crop tops look in outfits, I wasn't sure if I could pull one off. However when I saw this top at Deb, and tried it on, I thought I could make it work. ( Plus the top only cost me $12.99)
What I liked about this crop top is that it seemed to be longer than other tops I had seen. I also liked how the top was flow-y. I paired it with my trusty denim leggings from target, that sit higher up on my hips. These pants are not sold to be high waisted, but appear so because I wear them right on top of my hip bones.
I also loved the back of the top, with the arched crochet design. It shows of my back with out being so low cut or revealing that I couldn't wear a bra. I also added my Minnetonka fringe boots, and a trench coat from American Eagle. It's a great way to pair a crop top in spring, while there's still chance of snow.

How do you feel about crop tops? Do you love them or hate them?

LookBook: Leather Leggings from Day to Night.

Hey loves,

Although it's the last week of March I decided to do a LookBook for you instead of a favorites post. But let me know if you have missed it and I will make sure to do one next month for sure! I've been waiting for the right moment to do a LookBook with these faux leather leggings and I thought this would be the perfect time. What I love about these leggings is that not only are they on trend at the moment but also very classic and can be dressed up or down. For my day time look I paired the leather leggings with a studded jean jacket, white v- neck T-shirt, a blue patterned scarf and white vans. I love how casual it makes the leggings look. For the night time look I channeled my inner Sandy from Grease. I took the same T-shirt, and traded the jean jacket for my faux fur vest. I also traded the casual vans for my Madden Girl, patent leather black pumps. I love this look because If you are on the go, from school to a date or a night out these outfits can be easily changed between the two without having to carry your whole closet with you!

What's the item in your closet you can take from day to night? Comment below.

LookBook: Super(hero) Fridays.

Hey Loves!
This week has been so stressful! But nothing can make me feel better than cap'n of the week in one of my all time favorite sweaters! I often call this sweater my "critique" sweater, as I wear it anytime I have a critique in one of my art classes. I also love this sweater because it's just plain comfortable, and it has the avengers on it. I paired this sweater with a pair of denim leggings, black cheetah print vans, my union jack beanie, and my brand new forever 21 coat. I just bought this coat on sale at forever 21 on tuesday! It only cost me $22.80! That's a steal! It has faux leather selves and asymmetrical zipper. Everyone who has seen me wear this coat has loved it. It was the last coat that they had in the store too, so I knew I had to own it! I also added my white triangle charming charlie's necklace to dress up the sweater.
I want to know, what's your go to comfort outfit?

Apparently I bought it. #13

LookBook: Blue with Envy

Hey loves,
It's another thursday here at MinWage and I have a new lookbook for you! Once again this weeks outfit was inspired by a work outfit. I find that I am always dressing up for work, and so I always get my inspiration from those outfits.

This week I posted a picture of me wearing this dress on instagram ( thestephfunny) and lots of people were in love with the dress. So I thought I would share it with you guys! What I love about this dress is that it's in the season's "it" color and it has a flower and lace pattern. Also the dress is a skater style so it cinches in at the waist and then flairs out. This style is the most flattering on every body type!

For coverage because it's still a little chilly out, I added the grey boyfriend cardigan. I love this cardigan because it has panels that have open stitching and it allows air to flow through them, so I find that it is the perfect spring sweater.  I wore boots because I enjoy the rough look of boots with a really girly dress. Also the boots were the prefect grey to match the sweater. To add to the blue I accented with my blue watch and a thin turquoise bracelet.

On a side note, I feel like this shoot looks like a Marc Jacobs/ American Appeal ad, no?

Don't forget to search this outfit on Trendabl!
